DEVILDRIVER Films Footage For 'Another Night In London' Video

November 13, 2009

Vocalist Dez Fafara of San Barbara, California's DEVILDRIVER has issued the following update:

"First off, the U.K. was our first step on this tour and it did not disappoint one bit! Two shows in London was how we started off! The crowds were insane and I'm very appreciative for the turnout and energy put forth by London! Good thing as we were filming both shows for another upcoming video for 'Another Night In London' directed by Dan 'The Man' Burke who just did 'Fate Stepped In' video [see below] as well.

"Next was the BBC Radio 1 program! For anyone not familiar, this is a radio show going out to millions and is something highly coveted by musicians as a moment that is a highlight of a career and an honor to be asked to do.

"Funny thing is, within two days of landing, almost the whole band, crew — in fact the [entire] tour — was sick as fuck! I mean fever, shakes, puking! Me and Mike [Spreitzer; guitar] were wrecked , and he had to play and I had to sing! Million listeners... No pressure. LOL

"The way this thing goes is you play live and then mix / no edit / just rough and raw. This is where we shine. Even with sickness and jetlag kicking our ass, we did four tracks, all of which were viby as hell!

"Next was the rest of the U.K., which went off like no other!! It truly is the case that U.K. fans freak the fuck out for the bands they love, and man, this run of the U.K. was badass, for sure!

"We did these shows with BEHEMOTH, SUICIDE SILENCE and MALEFICE from the U.K. All cool people, for sure, and good bands.

"Next we and BEHEMOTH traveled over to mainland Europe to start the next three and half weeks of shows.

"First up, Paris!

"For those who attended this show, you will now what I mean by 'HOLY shit!' Parisians can cut loose! Thank you, Paris! The best show yet in the city of romance.

"Next stop was day one of many days in Germany... Something we look forward to in this band is playing Germany. The reason is the Germans know their music and love their metal!

"I won't mention every show, [but] let's just say that this tour has been a great time and with 10 more days left and some interesting countries to go to, such as Sweden, where we haven't been in five years with IN FLAMES, I'm looking forward to some great shows ahead .

"Now on to other things...

"Fuck yes, we've been writing! It's what we do!!

"Here's the thing... Why do bands make you wait three years between records? Because they're not prolific enough to write consistently? Because they wish to prolong there shelf life by riding a wave created by a new record? For three years? Really? Because they're not dilligent enough to get to writing / get to creating?

"YES, all of the above!!!

"DEVILDRIVER has always released one record every 20 to 24 months, PERIOD.

"Answer ME... If you like a band, is it fair to make you wait two and half to three years for new music? Meanwhile, the whole time they keep coming back to your town playing the same songs while selling you different merch prints? Hilarious!

"Let me answer this coming from a fan of music... Fuck NO!!

"You ain't getting ripped off like that by DEVILDRIVER... Fuck NO! No way!

"The goal is simple: release in October of 2010! Almost 20 months since the release and a good two-plus years since we finished 'Pray For Villains'!

"While I and the band appreciate the glowing reviews on 'Pray For Villains', and a lot of hard work went into it... the music, the band, the stage show all keeps getting better from here, fuckers !

"I've heard four tracks that are making me want to record NOW! Put your faith in us; we won't let ya down!

"Australia!! You better be ready for a double-barreled shotgun blast all-out assault by DEVILDRIVER 'cause were coming for circle pits and blood! Promoters, you've been warned: have ambulance on standby and all of you have been warned the floor at shows Down Under makes rugby look like child's play, fucking child's play! And I, myself, can't wait because even though I do love coming to Europe, I haven't seen the sun in a month and I'm from California!! So a little sunshine in Australia sounds killer along with a few beers with our good friends in LAMB OF GOD! Whenever we both get together is does seem like the tours are more fun and the shows have a energy all their own. I'm really looking forward to this one! Then home for Christmas with the family."
